How to Apply for the DOST Scholarship 2027

Every year, thousands of graduating Grade 12 students chase the same government scholarship for the same reason: it pays for nearly everything. The DOST Scholarship 2027 is no different, and this year’s cycle is already underway.

The scholarship comes from the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), and it’s built to steer talented students toward science, technology, engineering and math careers by covering most of the financial weight of a four-year degree. Applications opened August 17, 2026, and close September 17, 2026.

What Is the DOST Scholarship 2027?

The DOST Scholarship 2027 is DOST-SEI’s annual undergraduate scholarship program. According to the agency, its purpose is to keep a steady pipeline of qualified science and technology professionals feeding into the country’s development – scientists, engineers, researchers, teachers, and other specialists in priority fields.

Scholars keep receiving support throughout their degree, as long as they stay enrolled in an approved priority program and meet the scholarship’s academic standards.

DOST-SEI has two options under this program, and it’s worth knowing which one applies before you start the paperwork.

Both options pay out identically. The difference is entirely in how DOST-SEI screens applicants going in, one on aptitude alone, the other on aptitude plus household income.

DOST Scholarship 2027 Benefits

The financial package is the reason this scholarship has so much competition. It’s built to cover tuition, daily living costs, and the one-off expenses that tend to blindside college students.

Scholars whose program requires a summer or mid-year term aren’t left to cover it out of pocket, either. That term comes with its own support: up to ₱10,000 for tuition and school fees, a ₱2,000 learning materials or connectivity allowance, and an ₱8,000 monthly living allowance, the same rate as the regular term.

Who can apply for the DOST Scholarship 2027?

Meeting these qualifications gets you into the selection process and the qualifying exam. It doesn’t guarantee a slot on its own.

• Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen
• Must be a graduating Grade 12 student, or a Grade 12 graduate who hasn’t yet enrolled in college
• STEM students may apply
• Non-STEM students may apply if they belong to the top 5% of their graduating class
• Must be of good moral character
• Must be in good health
• Must not have earned any post-secondary (college or vocational) units
• There’s also room for students who’ve tried before. Applicants who previously took the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination but didn’t qualify or qualified but never availed of the scholarship, may be eligible again, subject to DOST-SEI’s guidelines.

For RA 7687 applicants specifically, there’s one more condition on top of the general list: the family’s socio-economic status has to fall within the income limits DOST-SEI sets for that options.

What are the Priority Courses

The scholarship only applies to DOST-SEI-approved priority degree programs – more than 100 of them, spanning engineering, computer science, information technology, health sciences, agriculture, mathematics, natural sciences, and science education.

Some of these programs are tied to specific schools or come with institution-level restrictions, so it’s worth confirming that both the degree program and the school appear on DOST-SEI’s current list before enrolling around it.

4. Create an applicant account using a valid email address.
5. Complete the online application form and upload the required documents.
